| 두산 그룹 100년을 기념하기 위해 최초 창업했던 작은 땅에 두산 100년의 역사를 기리는 상징 공간을 조성하는 프로젝트로서 Sasaki Associates 및 (주)시상건축사사무소와 공동작업하였다.
지하에는 타임캡슐이 들어가고 지상부는 25m 높이의 원형 드럼 형태의 기념 타워를 설치하였으며, 곡선의 벽과 화단을 조성하여 아늑한 분위기의 연출(setting)된 공간을 조성하는데 역점을 두고 설계하였다.
벽은 두산의 전신인 최초의 상점 파사드의 재현이자, 27개의 계열사가 기록되었으며 타워(Lighting tower) 내 10개의 디스크는 100년 역사를 의미한다.
1996년 8월 서울 종로구 종로5가에 약 30여평 규모로 조성된 연강소공원은 '98년 11월 19일 미국 메사추세츠 건축가협회에서 건축, 조경, 조형부문을 포함한 우수한 건축물에 수여하는 권위있는 상인 BSA(Boston Society of Architects)상을 수상했다.
BSA상 수상은 그 작품수준을 국제적으로 인정받았다는 데 의미가 있으며, 추후 조성될 기념소공원의 좋은 선례가 될 것으로 보인다.
The project is to create a symbolic space on the small site where Doosan was found 100 years ago to commemorate 100 year anniversary of the company.
In the underground floor, a joint work of Sasaki Associates and Sisang Design Group, there is a time capsule, and on the ground floor, a 25 meter tall circular drum type monument tower is placed.
The design was focused on creating a space that has coziness with curvaceous walls and flower beds. The very first shop of Doosan was recreated into a facade and names of 27 subsidiaries are recorded on the wall. The 10 disks inside the lighting tower symbolize 100 years of the company's history.
Yon Kang Park, located in Jongro 5-ga Jongro-gu, Seoul, opened on August, 1996 and is about 100 square meters in size. On November 19, 1998, it received BSA (Boston Society of Architects), a prestigious award of the Massachusetts Architects Association that is granted to a project with excellent architecture, landscaping and modeling.
Receiving the BSA award is significant in that the project was internationally recognized, and it serves as a good precedent for future parks. |
